340 B58 PURE STAGE 1 Testing -
10-21-2016, 03:11 PM
Hey guys,
Just got our 2016 340i B58 back from PURE with the Stage1 turbo for a little fun. JB4 tuning for it is still a work in progress but turbo response is almost as good as stock and so far no problems making around 30whp more than the stock turbo up top. I've got some work to do on the tuning still but I'm pretty encouraged by the early testing.
The test vehicle is running the JB4, BMS B58 intake, BMS WMI, and PURE S1 turbo. Exhaust and emissions equipment all 100% unmodified. Boost juice and ~95 octane.
Attached is a dyno/log of of what we've worked up so far (@ 23psi) and also a log with the JB4 on map4 (stock tuning) for comparison. The stock tuning seems to run the turbo just fine at stock like boost levels which makes our life easier. I did a few runs up to 25psi (the current boost cap setting in the B58 JB4) and while it wanted to make more power there are a few tuning glitches I'll have to tweak first. Hope to see 500whp with this thing shortly. Then it's open season on lightly modified M3s....
We'll be testing this car as part of our development fleet at Shift Sector 1/2 mile tomorrow.

Making M240 even more tempting for me now.
Is meth required for BT at this point due to the fueling restrictions?
Also, is it normal for timing to zero in the low range like that? Saw that in logs of stock turbo B58 as well.

Nope, E series has the smaller exhaust side. 426whp is the most I have seen, IIRC.

That was at least E30, I know the turbo was maxed and dyno may have read a tad high. I have seen several others in the 400's though. Anyway, not to get this thread off track.

Still poking along on the tuning on this. If I can work out a couple little things I think we'll see 500whp.

Incredible results. Looking forward to more. I am sure all of the tuning and lessons from other platforms has helped get this platform up to speed. If the bottom end can handle it, you should be able to do 600 WHP with minimal supporting mods. Just unbelievable!

Been working on things in the background and I think 500whp is within grasp. But still some software work to do.

The B58 engine is way better than the N55. Almost as good as the N54.
