Octane Booster Before&After -
10-06-2015, 02:45 AM
So From what ive been hearing alot of people Bashing on Fuel Additives. I have Yet to See a Decent product come out with something That actually works, Well Only from word of mouth. So 2 weeks ago being on a long drive home from work i decided to try to Jump on the Map7 Wagon Since I havent Been able To run it Lately Just Running a E85 Blend and racegas being over 45 miles from me, But It was A fail somewhat As i couldnt meet boost target and would get some sputter during mid range Rpm. Wel i was at Pepboys earlier today and a bottle of octane booster caught my eye, As to it saying Its not just an additive its actual race gas , Which may somewhat be true to and extent as to how much race gas is in this thing, Its a 32oz bottle and says if u treat 3oz per gallon you will be somewhat around 98 Oct, Well Today After I gassed up I I decided to give it a shot and put 3/4 of the bottle in there and Ill let you be the judge of the results due to I am not to well with reading logs but After Log does look like that additive did work

The only octane booster that really works are ones that contain MMT like NOS Race. Wal-Mart has them for $10 per can.

Yes this current one I use contains MMT and there's proof in logs that this stuff works . Just don't use it on a daily basis I can't see that being to good for injectors etc

I've been using 1 bottle of Lucas on each 93oct fillup...works great you definitely feel the difference on acceleration....Lab tests apparently change it from 93 to ~95 octane(I had researched and couldn't find another product showing real lab tests showing a better octane boost)

2017 M3 ZCP, JB4, BMS intake, and charge *****.
I’m using royal purple on this tank, 93 octane, and I can feel the difference, running map 2. I feel a stronger pull using Royal Purple than running 2 gallons of e85 on a full tank of 93 octane. I also ordered Torco and Race Gas concentrate, I’m going to run one bottle each on 93 and see how they compare with feel. I’d like run on a dyno to compare as a controlled expirement, but so far Royal Purple has a noticeable difference on map 2.

If you are able to mix correctly to raise your octane up to 100, you can run map 7 for F8x, not sure abouet F13. I added 48 ounces of Race Gas Concentrate, to bring up to 101 ocatne and was able to run map 7 without any issues. You can also add some e85 to bring up the octane. I have not tried NOS Race, but it should handle it if mixed correctly.

Thanks for the response! I like the race gas idea better. When I click Map 7 after adding race gas I don’t need to do any other adjustments to JB4?

No adjustments, needed with tuning, but make sure all of your connections are connected, fuel rail, EWG. Just read the mixture concentration, ounces of the race gas concentrate to gallons of gas to achieve the 100 octane minimum level. Then map 7 should be good to go. Again, I have an F80, I would assume similar for F13.

Bump for this question.
Also for those using it, is it Turco or Torco and what are you buying exactly, or what size bottle per tank? Both names come up as fuel addictives on a Google search.

Its Torco, but you better off using the best "Boostane"

Probably both they do..
The Demon and Hellcat guys only run Boostane when they're racing and go through the tank same day and throw a bottle of Techron Fuel Injector cleaner when tank is empty.

So octane boosters with MMT leaves deposits behind, which is why they are bad for the injectors so the cure is to run injector clearner through the system after running a MMT based octane booster right??

Yep it seems so, but most octane booster are ****.
Boostane and VP Octanium (has a new one now) seem to be the ones that work
