Hi guys,

I'm installing a JB4 in a right hand drive M4 and I'm pretty disapointed that no thought has been given to the install procedure for a RHD.

The problem is the mainly the length of the ODBII cable, because our steering wheel is on the opposite side of the engine bay to the mounting location of the JB4 controller itself, the ODBII cable is just too short to reach.

Has anyone completeed an install for a right hand drive? I'm installing on a S55 M4. The steering column and brake booster are reversed in the engine bay, meaning the controller must be mounted on the right of the engine bay, not the left as in LHD/US cars - which means the harness is the wrong length paritcuarly in the ODBII and the EWG connections.

you can just cut the OBD cable and extend it yourself? Just requires some electrical wiring and soldering or clips/connectors.

yes I know not very convenient but surely possible.

And is there no way you can just install the JB4 on your passenger side (as it would be done on LHD vehicle) ?

Sounds like you got the shorter LHD OBDII cable... The RHD OBDII cable is ~30" longer. There have been some harness changes lately which contributed to that confusion. The easiest fix is to just extend the two molex wires on the JB harness, green/brown molex connector. Or we could send the correct OBDII cable. You can install the JB4 without the OBDII and at least enjoy map1 in the meantime.

Hi All

I may well be missing something however what about the other cables requires to run map 7 ? I was supplied the longer OBDII cable which is great but there is no way the cables reach the sensors under the airbox on the LHS of the vehicle. The whole reason I got the JB4 was for map 7 so I really want to connect properly.

If you need additional help post some photos. Maybe you placed the control box on the wrong side? It goes on your driver side for RHD.

Thanks Terry, I did try to mount on the drivers side (RHS) but there is absolutely no room with the brake cylinder and other gear. I have this morning connected the fuel sensor which reached ok its just the EWG sensors.

I will just extend the cables this weekend to make it reach. If someone has been able to install on the drivers side in a in an RH vehicle I would love to see how they mounted it.

You're doing something wrong as there are hundreds of RHD models out in use. But since I don't own a RHD M3 here I can't tell you what. My advice would be not to modify anything and consult with a dealer who does RHD JB4 installs for reference photos.
